Hon Ayeni empowers 50 youths on fish production, trains school children on the need to adopt new innovations through biotechnology.


Nigerians have been changed to embrace new ideas and innovations , with a view to benefit more from raw natural resources and byproducts that the nation is blessed with.

Director Center for Bioresurces Development, Ogbomoso, Dr Oyedele Julius gave the charge in Ilesa at a workshop ,organised for school children in Ilesa West and Ilesa East Council areas.

The workshop, with the theme, Awareness Training for secondary school students on the prospect of adopting Biotechnology enterprises , was facilitated by the lawmaker, representing Ijesa South Federal Constituency, Hon L.B Ayeni, through the National Biotechnology Development Agency Federal Ministry of Science and Technology.

Dr Oyedele Julius said the essence of the training was to encourage school age children to embrace biotechnology, which according to him, is the use of byproducts among many indigenous items for the benefit of people.

He said it will also enable the students to acquire skills ,to develop themselves, and build a career.

Earlier while declaring the workshop open, Hon L.B Ayeni MHR said the idea of the workshop is to the benefit of his constituents, adding that the world is fast becoming a global village, and Nigeria must not be left behind in embracing new innovation.

He explained that his immediate predecessor Hon Ajibola Famurewa while in office initiated the workshop.

According to Hon Ayeni, since government is continuum  , he pushed for the implementation and execution of the workshop for the benefit of his people.

Hon Ayeni , therefore urged participants of the workshop , that included Saint Lawrence middle schools, and Ajimoko Middle school both from Ilesa to utilize the knowledge gained at the workshop.

Also on the day two of the seminar ,the training focused on fish production, where about 50 participants were trained on how to breed and rear fish to a table size.
As the two days event ended today 31 of January at the Foundation Event Center , Ido Ijesa ,Ilesa, all the participants went home with token while they formed a cooperative society , to enable them fund their fish production business.

At the workshop were chieftains of APC in Ijesa South Federal Constituency such as Elder Kunle Odeyemi, Hon Idowu Korede, Hon Oni, Hon Ajeleti, Hon Idowu Falade, Hon Padma, and Honourable members from Ilesa West Central among others.
