Youth of the ancient community of Ode-Omu in Ayedade Council Area of Osun have appealed to Governor Gboyega Oyetola to look critically at the Obaship arrangement of the community.
The youths numbering about 30, with various placards staged a peaceful protest to the govenr's office, begging the Governor to help them prevail on some individuals who have bent on preventing younger generation to become Oba in the community.
The youths claimed that several attemp has been made to express their grievances but all efforts proved abortive.
Speaking, the youth leader, Adebayo Adeyemi said the youth want a younger generation to be allowed to become Oba of the town, saying the rule of Law must prevail.
According to him, the existing arrangement put in place was done in 1961, and has not brought the expected development to Ode-Omu.
According to them, the community will prefer to have young, vibrant and influencial prince from any of the royal families in the town to become the next Oba rather than having any aged person to occupy the vacant seat.
Responding, the head ,security personnel at the entrance of the state secretariat , appealed to them to go back home, as government is still battling to prevent the state against coronavirus, just as he assured the youth that the message would be communicated to Governor Gboyega Oyetola.
He also thanked them for using face masks, and hand gloves to protect themselves as the global world fight coronavirus from speeding.
