FUNIACOM Raises Alarm of Admissions Scam

Federal University Ìlá-Ọ̀ràngún Advisory Committe (FUNIACOM) has learnt with absolute dismay that  the proposed University of Nutrition, Health and Medical Sciences, has been used as   object of despicable scam by some  hungry individuals who have  been  fraudulently issuing admission forms to misguided  and naive youngsters, who , understandably, are  eager to be offered admission into the new University.

These miscreants are reported to be collecting money from these youngsters in the name of the  yet- to-be established university.

FUNIACOM, as an interested stakeholder,  holds this development with serious concern and disapproval.

It is for this reason  that FUNIACOM  wishes to advise parents and guardians and, indeed, the general public  not to run into the foul  hands of these hungry  scammers who seem to be determined to take advantage of innocent children by opening a faceless website.

For the avoidance of doubt, FUNIACOM is not aware of any  admission being carried out  by,  or on  behalf of   Federal University,  Ila-Orangun.

FUNIACOM, therefore, writes to dissociate  itself completely from any form of offer of  admission  of  students into the university, and equally warns those miscreants who may be parading themselves as admission agents  to  desist from such criminal acts.

In this regard,  it also uses this medium to appeal to  the necessary  organs of government to  expedite action on  this much awaited University to forestall activities of mischief makers such as we are witnessing now.

COMMUNIQUÉ ISSUED AT THE END OF FUNIACOM MEETING AT ILA-ORANGUN

COMMUNIQUÉ ISSUED AT THE END OF FUNIACOM MEETING AT ILA-ORANGUN ON SATURDAY 4/12/2021

             Prof. Tunde Ajiboye

At the 4th meeting of the Federal University Ila-Orangun Advisory Committee meeting of FUNIACOM held at the Orangun's palace on 4/12/2021,the meeting reviewed the general prospects of the proposed University of Nutrition, Health and Medical Sciences; members reiterated their belief in the reality of the situation.

It also expressed with renewed delight the gratitude of the people and residents of Ila-Orangun and its environs for the University to President Muhammadu Buhari for the timely pronouncement which will go down in the history of Ila-Orangun as one of the most salutary steps to have been taken in responding tactically to the yearnings of the people of that part of the country.

The committee noted, however, the need for the people of Ila-Orangun as the host community to be proactive especially as it regards the quality of preparation schools and colleges are making to meet the expectations of the host community itself and the University as a higher education body.

It further drew attention to the level of security in the country and the type of synergy between relevant security agencies needed for an emerging socio-economic infrastructure implied by the establishment of the University.

It further pleaded for unalloyed cooperation and understanding between all sectors of the community to ensure that the take-off of the University is not in any way hampered by avoidable bickering.

Finally, the various efforts of men and women of the host community who, by their various voluntary contributions that were not exclusive of precious time and insightful ideas were appropriately acknowledged and appreciated.

It was hoped that more members of the community will show similar or greater interest in getting us ready to accommodate this monumental Federal Government project.

The meeting rose after a collective resolve to encourage all hands to be on deck to bring the project to visible fruition and without further delay for it is in that way that people of Ila-Orangun and its environs can truly heave a sigh of relief that the much desired positive change has hit their door.

NNPP CALLS FOR APPROPRIATE PUNITIVE MEASURES AGAINST ALL UNIFORM MEN INVOLVED IN SHOOTING UNARMED #ENDSARS PROTESTERS AT LEKKI

The New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) has called on relevant authorities to ensure thorough investigation into revealing the Identity of the soldiers and policemen indicted by the report of the Judicial Panel of Inquiry into Lekki #EndSARS brutality.

This was disclosed by Rev. Emmanuel Olorunmagba, the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the party, following the report of the Judicial Panel of Inquiry and Restitution on Lekki Toll Gate Shooting Incident and Cases of Police Brutality as well as human rights violations, which states that, "at least, 46 people were victims, some shot dead while others injured with bullets, or assaulted by security forces on the night of October 20, 2020, at the Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos State," thereby indicting the Nigerian Army and the Police of complicity in the death of protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate.

"No where in the world do uniform men shoot live bullets at unarmed peaceful protesters exercising their right to freedom of expression, especially when they are waving the flag of the country, which is a national symbol to be respected. Hence, the report of shooting #EndSARS peaceful protesters by security forces on the night of October 20, 2020, at the Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos State leading to death and bullet wounds of the youths is completely uncalled for.

"Since the report of the Judicial Panel of Inquiry has indicted the Nigerian Army and the Police of complicity, the right steps should be taken to ensure further proper investigations into revealing the identity of those involved; towards ensuring appropriate punitive measures to ensure justice for those concerned and or their families. And to serve as deterrent to other uniform men who have little or no regard for sanctity of life."

The party concludes that it's also very important that the victims and or their families be adequately compensated and the recommendations of the panel require urgent attention.

NNPP ADVISES THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AGAINST DECLARATION OF STATE OF EMERGENCY IN ANAMBRA STATE AHEAD OF A CRUCIAL ELECTION

The New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) has advised the federal government of Nigeria against declaration of state of emergency in Anambra State ahead of the November 6 gubernatorial election as it will not only further cast dent on this administration, but it will also further affect the image of Nigeria before the international community.

This is according to a statement by Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the party Rev. Emmanuel Olorunmagba.

The party notes that if there has not been emergency in the states badly ravaged by Boko Haram insurgency, then declaring such less than one month to a crucial gubernatorial election in a state that the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) at federal level has been loosing repeatedly will be taken as political manipulation to use the military to forcefully capture the state.

Hence, it will not only bring further disrepute to APC it will further batter the image of Nigeria before the international community.

In the light of the above, the NNPP urges the federal government to adopt other means to handle the security situation in Anambra State and other states.

However, the NNPP uses the  opportunity to call for a free and fair election in Anambra State so that whoever will emerge as the next governor of the state will be by the wishes of the good people of Anambra State as will be expressed through their voting.

Oyetola's Endorsement For 2nd Term Mere Political Jamboree, Sychophancy - NNPP

The Osun State chapter of the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP), has described as "mere political jamboree and act of sychophancy", the statement by some members of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT),  UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital Staff and Ife NULGE Mandate Group in the state, endorsing Governor Gboyega Oyetola for a second term.

The party in a statement signed by its chairman who also doubles as IPAC secretary, Dr Tosin Odeyemi, admonished Governor Oyetola to be wary of those endorsing him for a second term when he is barely three years in office, asserting that those people will still endorse another candidate who give them more money as we approach 2022.

According to the statement, "it is nauseating to read people saying there is no vacancy in Bola Ige House because they want to make Oyetola happy. We are calling on these groups to allow the good people of Osun State pick their governor come 2022 and not leaders who have already compromised and trying to justify their pay.

"We have said it on several occassions that people should stop distracting Oyetola with a second term agenda when he is yet to commence job and also considering the pace of underdevelopment in different sectors of Osun do State from infrastructure to education, industrialisation, civil service and judicial reforms, enterprise development, security, prompt payment to pensioners and promotion of civil servants, among others.

The NNPP is convinced beyond doubt that the only way the state can develop is to give a chance to another candidate after the expiration of his first four-year tenure.

"We therefore with full sense of responsibility, call on him to shelve the idea of running for second term. Besides, APC is known for political jamboree, using money to induce voters and that is why we, in the NNPP, see those hungry and attention-seeking groups like UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital Staff, Ife NULGE Mandate Group and the Nigerian Union of Teachers as sycophants and civil jokers.

Our position remains that Oyetola must merit a second term and it will not come through these sychophants who are professionals in creating crisis and organizing charades so they can feast on the governor" it stated.

NNPP condemns political violence in Osun State

A Chairman of the Osun State chapter of the New Nigeria People's Party, NNPP, Dr. Tosin Odeyemi, has condemned last Friday’s attack by members of the Osun State chapter of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC on fellow members of the same party.

Some prominent APC members popularly known as The Osun Progressive (TOP), who are loyal to the former governor of the state and the minister of interior, Mr Rauf Aregbesola, were attacked by the ILERI OLUWA GROUP, the loyalists of the incumbent governor, Gboyega Oyetola, at the party secretariat in Osogbo, the state capital, while on a peaceful procession.

According to a statement signed by Dr. Tosin Odeyemi, the Chairman, Osun State NNPP and IPAC Secretary in the state.

Dr. Odeyemi said the unprovoked attack between the two groups, which has caused social unrest in the state because they belonged to different factions, was the height of political intolerance and has heightened the doubts most Nigerians have about the ability of the APC-led administration to properly govern and guarantee free and fair elections in Osun State as well as the 2023 general elections.

"The open boasts and direct threats by the Ileri Oluwa Group to deal with the TOP group is beginning to manifest, an impunity and a glaring partisanship clearly endorsed by the ruling party", he said.

"Dr Tosin Odeyemi however, in a statement, said "We, the members of the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) in this instance, demand for justice, a peaceful and violence-free and enforcement of our fundamental human rights. We stand with the good things about of Osun State and Nigeria as a whole in confronting this rising tyranny and defeating barbaric tendencies of the All Progressive Congress in the state".

The chairman of the Osun State chapter of the NNPP who also doubles as IPAC secretary said the international community should be put on notice that the present government is violent and too desperate to be trusted to protect the fundamental rights of Nigerians and to conduct free and fair elections going forward. He further berated the People's Democratic Party for lacking internal mechanism to resolve intraparty crisis.

Nigerians, according to him, are confronted with a government that sanctions impunity while laying false claims to being democratic or progressive."

"This is not the liberty we seek or the democracy we need. What happened in Osun State last week was criminal. It is unacceptable. It is a direct assault on the rights and freedom of the people and it must not be allowed to stand."

The ruling APC should be busy with how to create jobs, provide security, ensure health infrastructure, socioeconomic development and provide life more abundant for millions of our people instead of engaging in power tussle with same fellow party members.

The chairman of the NNPP, Dr Tosin Odeyemi, however enjoined people to embrace and join the NNPP as the best alternative to the present APC government in the state and Nigeria. He said the NNPP is not about the promotion and perpetration of violence, but about sound ideas, good governance and healthy competition in an atmosphere that is free and fair. He said the NNPP is coming up as a third force with a clear vision of saving the good people of Osun State.

NNPP IS REPOSITIONING TO TAKE OVER POWER -National Chairman

The New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) says the party is being repositioned to take over power at states and federal levels.

This was disclosed by the National Chairman of the party, Dr. Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam, during the just concluded emergency National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held at the conference hall of Rockview Hotel, Apapa, Lagos State.

Dr Boniface asserted that NNPP is as old as the People's Democratic Party (PDP). "And to the glory of God, the Party is not only in existence, but waxing stronger.

"Our electoral victories in states like Bauchi, where we won Senatorial, House of Representatives, and House of Assembly seats are clear testimonies to the fact that our party is no push over and has a place in the heart of Nigerians. What we need to do now is to join hands to ensure we consolidate on these gains".

The National Chairman thus added that this meeting gearing towards repositioning the party is one of the steps towards strategic move to ensure that the party will not only produce a vibrant presidential candidate ahead of 2023 general elections, but "we will return power to the masses by pulling up surprises and win the presidential election, and some other positions at federal and state levels", capturing power from the ruling party.

He however lamented that the experience of the party after the Senatorial, House of Representatives and House of Assembly elections, "has shown that democracy in Nigeria is still facing serious challenges as a result of the determination of some powerful Nigerians to rubbish the principle of the sanctity of the ballot papers, by brazenly denying us our victories", stressing further that the party is better prepared now to ensure that whatever votes casts for the candidates now will be well followed up to ensure the votes count and NNPP candidates are declared winners according to the wish of the electorates.

"With the help of God, the repositioning of the party and the strategic planning; we are sure of not only wining the presidential election by 2023, but we will also win some Senatorial, House of Representatives, House of Assembly at different states and gubernatorial elections beginning from the forth coming Anambra 2021 where we have a vibrant candidate with intimidating credentials in person of Sir Emeka Leonard Ohajimkpo.

"Nevertheless, if during the discharge of our duties people have stepped on one anothers' toes, let's forgive, learn from past mistakes and move ahead.

"What is certain is to inform the gathering that NNPP is a movement with clear mission to provide the greatest leadership in Nigeria, therefore, it's leadership must be divine to the glory of God," he concluded.h

Nigerian insecurity requires urgent attention, Ademola Alagbadu warns.

                 President Buhari

Concerned by the growing insecurity in the country, a US- based Nigerian, Prince Ademola Alagbadu, has canvassed for the setting up of local security operatives, to work with Amotekun security network, and other conventional security outfits.

Prince Alagbadu said the security report recently published by the U.S government on the state of insecurity in Nigeria should be taken serious.

The Ipetu-ijesa born technocrat, called on President Muhammodu Buhari, to encourage various regions and geopolitical zones, to set up a well-coordinated local security operatives , saying this will enable the country out of the worsening security situation.

             Prince Ademola Alagbadu

Prince Alagbadu lamented the increase in attacks and banditry, especially in many Northern states which has led to the untimely deaths of hundreds of people, displacing thousands in recent years.

According to him, the recent security threats in the Southwest Nigeria must be urgently addressed, as bring raised by Sunday Igboho.

Prince Alagbadu expressed the readiness of Nigerians in the diaspora to support in the fight against the criminal elements ,who have killed and maimed hundred of innocent Nigerians.

it would be recalled that the All Progressives Congress (APC) government and Muhammadu Buhari led-administration have continued to receive criticism for their inability to tackle the security challenges bedeviling the country which has worsened in recent years.

You can’t arrest Igboho if you spared others who issued quit notices, Falana tells police

Human rights lawyer , Femi Falana, has warned the Nigeria Police Force not to arrest popular Yoruba rights activist , Sunday Adeyemo, well known as Sunday Igboho.
“ I urge the police not to venture to arrest Mr Sunday Igboho because in this same country , when others issued quit notices to other nationalities in the past , they were not arrested , ” Falana said Friday on a PUNCH Online interview programme , The Roundtable.

The Presidency had said the Inspector -General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, ordered the arrest of Igboho for giving Fulani herdsmen accused of perpetrating sundry crimes in Oyo State an ultimatum to exit the state.
At the expiration of the seven -day ultimatum, Igangan residents in the Ibarapa area of the state, emboldened by Igboho’ s presence, had ejected the Seriki Fulani, Abdulkadri Saliu , and his herders out of the rustic town .

But Falana said “ there is no way the police can choose who to arrest in this nature. ”
According to him, “ Almajiris have been deported , beggars have been deported , the poor and destitute have been deported and the government never raised any issue. ”
Falana, who had earlier said Igboho had no right to issue the vacation order to the herdsmen, said his position on such matter has been consistent , adding that he had spoken against persons who issued quit notices to non -indigenes in the past.

The rights lawyer said he does not support jungle justice but the citizens must not take laws into their hands.
“ The government has failed the people but the people can mobilised to make the government alive to its responsibility of protecting lives and properties, ” he said, adding , “ It has got to that stage when every community has to organised its security because we can no longer depend on the government . ”
“ Sunday Igboho cannot be arrested because others who gave quit notices in the past were not arrested. In fact, when somebody gave a quit notice to the Igbo people in the north , a
governor ordered the arrest of the person but the police never arrested him, ” Falana maintained.
